URAYA BEACH RESORT - OLIVIA SANDS OF THE ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL IN DAVAO DEL NORTE

Location: Babak-Samal-Kaputian Road, Kaputian, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, Philippines

The uncrowded and serene Uraya Beach Resort - Olivina Sands

After enjoying the cold and refreshing water of Hagimit Falls, we chartered a single motor cycle going to Uraya Beach Resort – Olivia Sands. The three of us: Teresa Corpus, Anamarie Supremo and I boarded just one motor cycle. Upon exiting to the national road, we entered another secondary road that of Babak-Samal-Katipunan Road.

Truly an undisturbed beach paradise

We were lucky to have Arjay Barila to be our habal-habal service driver because he is very kind. He said that he is charging us P50 per head for the ride. He was our random choice among the habal-habal drivers waiting for passengers at the gate of Hagimit Falls. But mind you, it was too far and there were no motorcycles at the resort’s gate which is more than 2 kilometers from the beach resort.

Available wooden rafts for free of use

Worried about us, he stayed with us and served to be our photographer and watcher of our belongings when we were having endless swim. He agreed to drive us to Babak Port crossing to Sta. Ana Wharf where we boarded a boat to Davao City mainland. We voluntarily paid to him P700 since he was servicing us from 10:30 A.M. and we parted ways at around 6:00 P.M. at the Babak Port.

Cottages available for rent near the beach line

We paid P150 per head for the entrance fee. The resort's entrance along Babak-Samal-Kaputian Road is around 2 kilometers to the actual resort and there are no transport vehicles which will take you there nor in going out from the resort. You really need a chartered vehicle going there.

The rich green upper part of the resort

The entrance fee of P150 is good for a day tour only which is good from 7:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. While if you opt to stay overnight, the entrance fee is P250 which has a check-in time of 1:00 P.M. until 12:00 Noon of the following day. The rate does not include the cottage and the accommodation unit.

Wooden raft anchored in the deeper part of the beach with Tess and Anamarie

Both sunrise and sunset will give you the best Instagram and Facebook profile pictures. Staying overnight is even much better since the place is calm, peaceful and beautiful birds abounds because they have their nests on the trees that surround the place. It is not to mention that you can hear the blending of the sounds of cicadas and the chirping of birds. Strolling along the beach on its white fine sand is even very relaxing feeling the soft waves caressing your bare feet.

HOW TO GO THERE

Using a reference point of Manila, the following are the options on how to get there.

Manila (Pasay) to Davao City trips, have the following common options:

1. Philtranco Airconditioned bus is P2,675 per head while Non-Aircon is P2,265. It is a 2 day trip and you will pass by at least 13 provinces in Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon. The bus boards a ferry ship from Matnog (Sorsogon) still a part of Luzon and another in Liloan Port of Panaon Island in Southern Leyte to Lipata Port in Surigao City

2. Taking an airplane by promo airfare from Manila to Davao City will be more convenient for one hour and 10 minutes only.

3. Take a Superferry from Manila to Cagayan de Oro City, and from there take a bus going to Davao City.

4. Travel 2Go Passenger ship to Cebu City and avail of the promo airfares from Cebu City to Davao City.

Davao City to Uraya Beach Resort:

The reference point wherever you are from Davao City is to take a bus, taxi or jeepney going to Sta. Ana or Sasa Wharf and from there you may choose the following options.

1. Take the resort's shuttle van service for P100 per head with a minimum number of 6 passengers. For reservation, call this number 0936-494-6679.

2. Alternatively, from the Babak port of Samal, you can charter a motorcycle to the beach resort. The rate may depend on how much you haggled for it.

3. Another option is to take a boat from Sta. Ana Wharf for an hour travel to the resort.

  1. Beaches and sands are two of my favorite things. When I stay on a beach, it is the most relaxing kind of holiday. Fortunately, one of my colleagues introduced me to The Select App. This app provided me with a beach pass that could assist me in locating the best beach with good accommodation and a reasonable price.
