Location: Barangay Tambobong, Dasol, Pangasinan, Philippines
Colibra island is approximately eight (8) kilometers away from the mainland of Tambobong with a travel time of about 20 minutes via motorboat ride.
Day 1 - Tambobong Beach
I was with my tree travel buddies when I toured to this island, namely: Beng Sia, Thelma Bautista and Teresa Santiago. We were all joiners in this trip package where the van we boarded from Manila to Tambobong was 298 kilometers for barely 6 hours road travel.
This is 2-day travel package wherein the first day was at the Tambobong Beach at the mainland and second day was in Colibra Island.
The beach coast of Tambobong near our accommodation
Tambobong Beach is a tranquil, off-the-beaten-path destination in Dasol, Pangasinan. It features a long stretch of fine, cream-colored sand and calm, crystal-clear waters. Set within a working fishing village, it offers a rustic, laid-back atmosphere and serves as a primary jump-off point for local island hopping.
The beach has no entrance fee at all
Nearby beachfront cabanas and resorts
Beach coast is so massive and lengthy
Some jetski for rental
Walking to the other side of the beach . . .
. . . where waves are bigger and strong
Where massive rocks guards the strong waves
Teresa Santiago, one of my three travel buddies
With the demure Thelma Bautista
Here waves are extremely turbulent and powerful
But these waves know when to rest . . .
. . . and reappear when action starts again
Day 2 - Colibra Island Beach Camp
This island is privately owned and managed privately, there is a minimal amount of entrance fee and docking fee for every boat upon arrival. There is no luxurious resorts or hotels on the island. As for accommodations, there are nipa huts, open cottages, and tents available for rent. Most of the guests going here stay in some resorts in Tambobong Beach and have a day tour in this island in the morning and go back to their resort in the afternoon.
For Day 2, we spent our early morning in Tambobong beach to catch the healthy morning sun just after our breakfast. We left Tambobong at 10:26 A.M.
Left the island at 3:30 P.M. Unfortunately, waves were so turbulent in the afternoon. In fact, by the time, I boarded the boat, it was hit by a giant turbulent wave and I was thrown to the sea along with my mobile phone. With that, I have to keep my phone in the can of rice to dry it for five days. After that, my phone got fixed again.
We left Tambobong at 5:30 P.M. and arrived in Manila at 12:45 midnight because there were heavy traffic along our way.
